WELCOME
ABOARD!

You finally made it! You did all the hard work and planning to get here, it's time to sit back, relax and let us take over from here.

Below you'll find some basic but important info to guide you through the week.

SAFETY FIRST

ONBOARD SAFETY:

  • Please adhere to safety guidelines and follow instructions from the crew at all times.

EMERGENCY PROCEDURES:

  • In an emergency, please try and make your way to the back lounge area for further instructions.

  • In the case of bad weather, we recommend that you do not walk around the boat, to avoid injury and falling overboard.

  • If you do witness someone falling overboard while we are sailing, alert one of the crew members immediately. Try to keep your eye on the person overboard at all times to assist in the rescue.

  • If needed, your life-jacket is under your bed. Do not remove from the room unless used in an emergency.

SMOKE ALARMS:

  • Located in all cabins. Smoking is prohibited in rooms.

EMERGENCY CONTACT:

  • Your Koda Sail rep is available 24/7 for any urgent needs.

THE WEEK AHEAD

DAY SHEETS:

  • Every morning the daily itinerary will be on display. Your Koda Sail rep will go over everything each day at lunch and explain in more details

NAUTICAL NIGHT:

  • During the week, we'll have a Nautical Night. The theme is Nautical, so anything Blue, White or striped works well. Find yourself a captains hat and you're all sorted!

MEET YOUR CREW

YOUR CREW:

  • Ready to assist you with any requests throughout your journey, we have a crew of 5 on board.
    - Captain - Ali
    - Chef - Mustafa
    - Barman - Deniz
    - Deckhand - Furkan
    - Deckhand - Alaz

EMBRACING TURKEY

SLOW PACE:

  • Embrace the leisurely pace of life here in Turkey. Things may not always happen on time, but that’s part of the charm. By the end of the week you'll get to understand why there never seems to be a rush with anything and start taking that same approach. Once you get there, it's hard to snap out of. Good luck back in the office!!

FLEXIBILITY:

  • Be prepared for some flexibility in schedules and plans. Enjoy the spontaneity and make the most of each moment. We are at the mercy of the weather and Port Authorities who can dictate some of our timings, and if boats need to be re-directed throughout the week. In all the tours we've done over the 10+ years, not one week has been the same!

RELAX AND ENJOY:

  • Relax, unwind, and immerse yourself in the unique experiences and beautiful scenery. Leave all the planning up to us and just turn up :)

OUR BOAT. OUR HOME

  • You're on board the A+ Category traditional Turkish Gulet.

  • The Gulet itself is used for 24 weeks consecutively over the Summer, so it does see it's fair share of wear & tear.
With that in mind, please let us know ASAP if you notice something not quite right, either in your cabin or around the boat.

  • Although you might think it is a small thing and it doesn't bother you, we'd still like to know so that we can keep on top of things.
Getting a maintenance crew on board over Summer is very difficult and sometimes could take over a week to get them on board.

GENERATOR - A/C LAWS

  • Due to sailing laws that prioritise safety, ALL Gulets of this size (not only ours) are required to turn off their generators in the bays from 12am to 7am. As a result, the Air Conditioning units can NOT operate during these hours When moored out of a harbour, our Captain's schedule the air conditioning to run in the evening as late as possible to cool cabins before guests retire, then again before sunrise until breakfast. It can not run all day unfortunately, but during the day you are usually swimming, or doing an excursion off the boat.

For the most part of the Summer, the room is still comfortable enough to sleep in, but we do have many lounge areas on the boat to enjoy a sleep under the stars on a balmy Summer's night. Please note that the Summer months of July & August are HOT. Even though our boats have AC, you need to remember that we are on a boat and there are limitations.

BUDGETING & TIPPING

LOCAL PORT TAX:

  • Please ensure you have €45 in cash ready to pay your Koda Sail rep.

ON THE LAND:

  • Cash is KING. We'll say that again...CASH IS KING! Cash is expected at most tourist places throughout Turkey.

ONBOARD BAR:

  • The bar onboard is owned and run by the Gulet, not Koda Sail. It is fully licensed, meaning there is no BYO permitted.

  • The Bar Crew will put on a Happy Hour every night with different specials throughout the week.

  • You can expect a weekly bar tab of €150-200 if having a few drinks throughout the day with meals and evening Happy Hour drinks.

  • Your bar tab is to be paid in cash at the end of the week to the Bar Crew

EXCURSIONS:

  • Plan ahead and check costs on our excursion page HERE. Payments are in cash.

  • Entry to the 3 national parks on the tour total €11 / 500 TL.

TIPPING:

  • Tipping is very much appreciated throughout Turkey as most locals only get work throughout the Summer months.

  • Our Crew on board will do everything they can to ensure your week is the best it can be. At the end of the week you'll have an opportunity to tip them. Suggested amounts are;

  • €10 per WEEK, per crew member on board (€50-€60 total for the week)

  • €35 per WEEK for your Koda Sail tour manager (€5 per day)
