SAFETY FIRST

ONBOARD SAFETY:

• Please adhere to safety guidelines and follow instructions from the crew at all times.

EMERGENCY PROCEDURES:

• In an emergency, please try and make your way to the back lounge area for further instructions.

• In the case of bad weather, we recommend that you do not walk around the boat, to avoid injury and falling overboard.

• If you do witness someone falling overboard while we are sailing, alert one of the crew members immediately. Try to keep your eye on the person overboard at all times to assist in the rescue.

• If needed, your life-jacket is under your bed. Do not remove from the room unless used in an emergency. 

 

MOVING AROUND THE BOAT:

• Please take care moving around the boat, especially when decks are wet. Bare feet or non-slip footwear is best onboard. Avoid running, jumping between boats or walking around while the boat is manoeuvring unless the crew says it is safe.

 

SMOKE ALARMS:

• Located in all cabins.

• Smoking and vaping are not permitted inside cabins. Please only smoke in approved outdoor areas and use the ashtrays provided.

• For urgent onboard issues, speak to your Koda Sail tour manager or a crew member immediately.
  For emergencies, always follow the captain and crew instructions first..​​​​​

THE WEEK AHEAD

DAY SHEETS:

• Every morning the daily itinerary will be on display. Your Koda Sail tour manager will go over the plan each day and explain the details, timings and optional activities.

NAUTICAL NIGHT:

• During the week, we'll have a Nautical Night. The theme is Nautical, so anything Blue, White or striped works well. Find yourself a captains hat and you're all sorted!

YOUR CREW:

• Ready to assist you with any requests throughout your journey, we have a crew of 4 on board which includes a captain, chef, bartender and deckhand.

• Your Koda Sail tour manager will introduce everyone on Day 1.

EMBRACING TURKEY

SLOW PACE:

• Embrace the leisurely pace of life here in Turkey. Things may not always happen on time, but that’s part of the charm. By the end of the week you'll get to understand why there never seems to be a rush with anything and start taking that same approach. Once you get there, it's hard to snap out of. Good luck back in the office!!

FLEXIBILITY:

• Be prepared for some flexibility in schedules and plans. Enjoy the spontaneity and make the most of each moment. We are at the mercy of the weather and Port Authorities who can dictate some of our timings, and if boats need to be re-directed throughout the week. In all the tours we've done over the 10+ years, not one week has been the same! 
   

RELAX AND ENJOY:

• ​Relax, unwind, and immerse yourself in the unique experiences and beautiful scenery. Leave all the planning up to us and just turn up :)

OUR BOAT. OUR HOME

• You're on board the A+ Category traditional Turkish Gulet. 

• The Gulet itself is used for 24 weeks consecutively over the Summer, so it does see it's fair share of wear & tear. 
  However, if something is not right, please tell your Koda Sail tour manager or the captain ASAP. Issues are much easier to fix during the week than after the tour has finished.

• Although you might think it is a small thing and it doesn't bother you, we'd still like to know so that we can keep on top of things. 
  Getting a maintenance crew on board over Summer is very difficult and sometimes could take over a week to get them on board.​

• Toilets: Please do not flush toilet paper, wipes, sanitary products or anything other than what the crew has advised. Marine plumbing is sensitive and blockages can affect your cabin and others onboard.

• Water: Fresh water onboard is limited. Please keep showers short and avoid leaving taps running, especially when everyone is getting ready at the same time.

• Onboard Bar: he bar onboard is owned and run by the gulet, not Koda Sail. It is fully licensed, meaning there is no BYO permitted.

• Wi-Fi / Mobile Signal: Signal can vary throughout the week, especially in bays and remote areas. Please do not rely on Wi-Fi for work, streaming or urgent communication.

• Power: Turkey uses European-style two-pin plugs. Please charge devices when power is available and avoid leaving electronics unattended.

• Rubbish: Please use the bins provided and avoid throwing anything overboard.

BUDGETING & TIPPING

LOCAL PORT TAX:

• Please ensure you have €60 in cash ready to pay your Koda Sail rep.

ON THE LAND:

• Cash is KING. We'll say that again...CASH IS KING! Cash is expected at most tourist places throughout Turkey.
  ​​

ONBOARD BAR:

• The bar onboard is owned and run by the Gulet, not Koda Sail. It is fully licensed, meaning there is no BYO permitted.

• The Bar Crew will put on a Happy Hour every night with different specials throughout the week.

• As a rough guide, many guests spend around €175–200 for the week if having a few drinks with meals, afternoon drinks and evening Happy Hour drinks.

• Your bar tab is to be paid in cash at the end of the week to the Bar Crew

EXCURSIONS:

• Plan ahead and check costs on our excursion page HERE. Payments are in cash.

• Entry to the 3 national parks on the tour total €11 / 500 TL. 
   

TIPPING:

• Tipping is very much appreciated throughout Turkey as most locals only get work throughout the Summer months.

• Our Crew on board will do everything they can to ensure your week is the best it can be. At the end of the week you'll have an opportunity to tip them. Suggested amounts are; 

• €80 per WEEK for the Crew (€20 per crew member on board) 

• €55 per WEEK for your Koda Sail tour manager (€8 per day)​
