ACCOMmODATION Here in Africa we have a mixture of accommodation throughout the tour, staying in lodges, sleeping out under the stars in the Salt Pans, and in our 3x3 tents during our 4 night mobile Safari in the Okavango Delta. Shearwater Explorers Village - Vic Falls: So close to the falls that it occasionally receives an early morning shower from the spray! The lodge overlooks virgin African bush and a waterhole that is frequently visited by elephants and buffalo, it is near craft markets and the entertainment area. There are amazing gardens that offer fantastic birdlife, coupled with great ambience. Planet Baobab - Gweta: Just outside the village of Gweta, Planet Baobab is an attraction in itself. There is a colony of giant baobab trees all over the property, the buildings are designed in a traditional African style. Lots of thatched roofs, colourful flowing walls and traditional furniture. The swimming pool is massive and a beautiful place to hang out. 4 night Safari: A mobile camp is unique in that it travels between locations with the safari. A hard-working team sets up the camp specifically for the safari. Although basic, the camp is remarkably comfortable with great locations, food and service. Accommodation is in 3x3m dome tents with comfortable bedrolls on the ground. Long drop toilets and hot bucket showers are shared. Great bushfire meals are served in a dining tent. All activities are conducted by professional guides in gameviewers with multiple charging facilities. Load More Accom Africa

  • About Koda Sail | Who we are | Koda Sail

WHO ARE KODA SAIL? So, you’ve come this far, you’ve done your research and you’ve been Googling your little fingers off to finally make it here! But now you want to know “Who ARE Koda Sail?” Just like a first date, first impressions count, so we hope you like what you see so far. We at Koda Sail absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE what we do! We’re a team of experienced travellers that have worked in the tourism industry for some time now. After gaining very valuable experience from working with different successful travel companies around the world, it was time to bring these skills together and create something new and fresh. Having the opportunity to share our extensive travel experience and help travellers enjoy the best vacation of their lives by getting the most out of every day is a pretty sweet gig. What's not to love?! Anchor 1 What makes our tours different from the others? For many years we’ve had young passengers say to us that just because they are young, doesn’t mean they don’t want some luxury while on tour. We agreed and felt like there wasn’t really a market for these 'Young Professional' passengers. Their only option was to join an oldies tour if they wanted some luxury travel, but run the risk of having no one in their age group to hang with. To cater for this we decided to mix both styles, budget and luxury. Our tours still come into the budget-pricing category but we are able to offer a more stylish tour. Basically with us you get a Ferrari on a Toyota budget! We’ve joined forces and are here to put all the great ideas collected along the way into our amazing tours. All the things that we liked from our past experiences, we’ve made sure we tick those boxes, but have taken it up a few notches. We have A+ and Premium category boats with private en-suites and air-conditioned cabins at no extra cost. We have a local chef on board with us smashing out some amazing dishes to keep your belly full. But most importantly, our Koda Sail team are amazing and have loads of experience. We're proud to boast that one of our guides made a Top 5 placing in the TourRadar.com ‘ Guide of the Year’ awards recently. So we are confident that our passengers are getting the best of the best out there on the seas. These are just a few of the small things we are doing to put together the perfect experience for our travelers and separating us from the others to make Koda Sail the tour to be on each and every Summer. Our Goal It's simple really. We want for you to 'turn off' and relax. Let us take care of the rest. We know the best places to eat, the 'must dos' in each town, where the nightlife is, where you can buy local treats, whatever you're wanting to know or do, we've done it all! And if we haven't, we have the local knowledge to find out for you. This is our passion. This is what we love to do. This is Koda Sail. Get on board today and join us at Koda Sail for your next adventure! Got a Question? Check out our FAQ's for everything you need to know to get you on board this Summer.

  • TRAVEL ALERTS/UPDATES | Koda Sail

Book with Confidence with our Flexible Changes Policy KODA SAIL Travel Alerts & Updates: See below for our FAQS regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus) KODA SAIL UPDATE: Posted 19th April 2022 Great news for our Australian travellers as the Australian Government is easing restrictions for Australians travelling overseas. Changes to the requirements for travel into and out of Australia came into effect on 18 April 2022. So what does that mean for your overseas trip? Pre-departure testing is no longer required When travelling to Australia, you no longer need to provide a negative COVID-19 test result to board your plane. It’s important to remember that transport providers, transit locations and the state or territory you arrive in may still have testing requirements. Always check the requirements before you travel. You still need to complete the Digital Passenger Declaration when travelling to Australia. And you must still wear a mask at all times if you’re travelling to Australia by air. Exemptions are no longer required to leave Australia Unvaccinated Australian citizens and permanent residents can now leave Australia without an individual travel exemption. But you may still be asked about your vaccination status. You’re required to show proof of your vaccination status if you’re asked by an Australian official or your transport provider. The Australian Government recommends passengers leaving Australia be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and travel with proof of vaccination status documentation. If you’re unvaccinated, you’re strongly discouraged from international travel due to the health risks. Airlines, cruise lines and other destinations can still have their own vaccination policies. You may face difficulty finding transport options if you’re unvaccinated. Reference: https://www.smartraveller.gov.au/news-and-updates/easing-restrictions-travelling-overseas KODA SAIL UPDATE: Posted 10th September 2021 Travel Vaccine Policy for all 2022 tour departures. View our policy here KODA SAIL UPDATE: Posted 28th May 2021 We were hoping by now that we would have a very clear picture on what travel and tourism will look like for the Summer ahead, but as I'm sure you are aware there has been no firm decision by governments on which countries can travel to and from Europe, and no guarantee that snap border closures could happen. Parts of Europe, including 2 of our major destinations in Croatia & Turkey are still enforcing lockdown restrictions. There are nightly curfews in place and restrictions on public gatherings. Restaurants, bars and activities we have on our itinerary are either closed for the Summer, or have very limited capacity due to social distancing rules. With all this in mind and taking into account how these uncertainties and restrictions will effect our day to day itinerary, not allowing us to deliver our amazing product to the best standard, we regretfully have to inform you that our Croatian trips due to depart this Summer (Season 2021) have been suspended. If your trip has been suspended you would now have received an email from our team with this update. No further action is required by you until it is time to rebook a future tour with your Travel Credit Once again, the Koda Sail family would like to thank you for your ongoing support to not only us, but the tourism industry as a whole. We WILL be able to travel again, and when we do it will be more amazing than ever before. From our family to yours, we wish you all the very best and look forward to hosting you on one of our tours very soon. KODA SAIL UPDATE: Posted 15th March 2021 Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and associated travel restrictions, all Koda Sail trips due to depart on or before August 14th 2021 have now been suspended. If you have a trip booked during this suspension period, you’ll have a travel credit automatically available to you, for use on travel before 31 December, 2023. KODA SAIL UPDATE: Posted 4th July 2020 Turkey has opened up their borders with no 14 day quarantine restrictions. This is great news, particularly those that are travelling from the UK as there are also no quarantine restrictions on your return. We have re-opened bookings for our Turkey tours for private departures of 8 or more. Contact us for more details. KODA SAIL UPDATE: Tour Departure Reviewing Process - Posted 31st March 2020 To ensure we are not postponing our tours prematurely, and to keep inline with Airlines and other Tour Operators in the industry, we will start the review process to suspend or proceed with each of our 2020 tours, 100 days prior to their scheduled departure date. A final decision will be made 75 days from departure. If your tour departure is affected you will be contacted directly via email with flexible options for your booking (please check your spam folder in case it has slipped in there) . Click HERE to check your departure dates review period. If your departure date is not yet due for review, you can still take advantage of the Flexible Changes policy and change your departure to a later date in the season, or a different destination, with no additional fees. If you choose to cancel before your departure has been reviewed, our normal cancelation policy still applies. -- KODA SAIL UPDATE: Posted 29th March 2020 Thanks to all for your continued patience and support during this time as we work through all emails received. We are replying to all emails within a 24hr window, so if you do not see a reply, please check your spam folder as it no doubt has slipped in there. As a result of the rapidly evolving COVID-19 pandemic and government travel advice, today we reached the unfortunate decision to suspend all trips due to depart on or before July 7th, 2020. This decision hasn’t been taken lightly, but our first priority is and always will be the wellbeing of our travellers. For the affected travellers on these trips departing before July 7th, we’ll be reaching out to personally via email in the coming days with more information about your booking and the next steps. Please check your junk folder to ensure you don't miss this update. At present, all of our tours scheduled from July 7th 2020 onwards are due to depart as planned pending any updated Government travel restrictions. If there are any disruptions to those tours, we will be in touch with another update ASAP. Please continue to check back here. We'd also like to take this opportunity to thank you for your compassion when contacting us over the past month, as this unprecedented event has come with many challenges also in our personal day to day lives. Thanks Chris & the Koda Sail team --- KODA SAIL UPDATE: Posted 17th March 2020 Thanks to everyone for their patience during this time. As you could imagine we are very busy attending as many of your questions during this period of uncertainty. Please have confidence in the fact that we are fully aware and across the situations around the world with different governments and their travel bans that are CURRENTLY in place. We stress the fact that they are CURRENT travel bans and not forever. We are monitoring the situation daily and will continue to update our customers here in our Travel Alerts. If your tour is directly affected, you will be contacted directly, so we urge you to check back here regularly to read our current updates. We are staying positive that our European Summer will go ahead, so all bookings are still active and none have been cancelled. Your rights to cancel are still in place so you don't need to be concerned right this minute that you have to make a rash decision. We aim to have a clearer picture of the whole situation by the end of April and will be in a better position to understand what the Summer will look like. Until then, we wish you all good health and encourage everyone to listen to the instructions from your government to isolate and get this virus under control sooner so that we can all get on with enjoying our love of travel. Regards Chris & the Koda Sail team --- Posted 14th March 2020 ASIA UPDATE (MALDIVES) Today we received information from the Maldivian Government that they declared a 'State of Public Health Emergency' for the first time in its history in response to an increase in COVID-19 cases, forcing all tourism to cancel their operations. The announcement was made by Health Minister Abdulla Ameen who holds discretionary powers to declare such emergencies under Maldives' Public Health Act. The State of Public Health Emergency is to last 30 days starting immediately from his announcement, which directly affects our upcoming tours departing on March 21st and March 28th. The government have banned movement between islands (no resort trips from the local islands) in an effort to try and control the spread of the virus. As our Maldives tour is an Island Hopping itinerary, we would not be able to move freely between the islands or complete most of the excursions we have on the schedule, preventing us from delivering our amazing product to it's full potential. All customers affected with this cancelation have been contacted via email and provided with further information regarding their booking. We continue to monitor the situation for our tours in both Croatia & Turkey and will provide updates should those tours be affected. --- KODA SAIL UPDATE: Posted 3rd March 2020 All of our tours will operate as per normal unless government authorities insist we halt our operations, in which then of course we will provide our customers with alternate options for their bookings. If your country of citizenship's government advises you not to travel, you will need to refer to your travel insurance policy for cancelations. We encourage all of our passengers to purchase travel insurance at the time of their booking to cover any loses they may incur because of cancelations from your end leading up to your travel date. We have confidence that all of our tours will operate this Summer as all of the places we visit are of low tourist density. With a majority of the older generation deciding not to travel this year because they are of higher risk of infection, it will be a pleasant time to enjoy less crowds. As our tours are targeted towards the Young Professional demographic, we are in a good position in which our guests generally are of good health and at a very low risk of infection. Koda Sail continues to monitor very closely the travel recommendations issued by the various worldwide government travel advisory services on this matter and will continue to update/contact you if any of the advisories recommendations change. ASIA UPDATE (MALDIVES) With China being the most affected in this region, it's most likely by now that your flight has been redirected if you were connecting through there. We advise all of our passengers travelling to our upcoming tours in the Maldives to practice safe hygiene on their flights over by wearing protective masks, using hand sanitiser and avoiding close contact with others where possible. EUROPE UPDATE (CROATIA & TURKEY) At this stage, Italy has been most affected by the current outbreak of novel coronavirus, with 10 small towns in Lombardy (Codogno, Castiglione d’Adda, Casalpusterlengo, Fombio, Maleo, Somaglia, Bertonico, Terranova dei Passerini, Castelgerundo and San Fiorano) and one in Veneto (Vo’ Euganeo), being isolated by the Italian authorities due to an ongoing outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19). Based on the government advice being issued, and the fact the above regions are not visited by our Koda Sail tours, we will continue to operate all tours currently in operation throughout the month of March/April as per normal. BOOK WITH CONFIDENCE Book with confidence with our Flexible changes policy allowing you to change your trip date with no fees. Read HERE for more info. OUR COMMITMENT The wellbeing and enjoyment of our guests is our main priority. Koda Sail remains active with its high hygiene standards, with additional preventative on trip protocols implemented. In accordance with government issued warnings, anyone who has been to specific affected countries/regions in the 14 days prior to your tour start date, must self isolate. Therefore, any person who has been to a country/region listed as "high risk" in the 14 days prior to the start of their tour departure will not be permitted to join the tour. We will continue to follow advice from government advisories and remain in touch with all our on the ground suppliers. Please consider your government's advice and make a decision based on your own circumstances. Ultimately, the decision is yours if you would like to travel this year, but we are looking forward a great Summer ahead. CORONA FAQS What’s a normal day like on the tour? Depending on your taste, a sailing tour in Europe can be cheap once you are there and not too much money needs to be spent during the week if you didn’t want to. The restaurants we recommend are in the price range of €10-30 per meal. If you decide to join the group on the nights out, our Koda Sail reps organize free entries to clubs and nightly drink specials, helping you to save money to be spent elsewhere. There is also a bar on board the boat that has a Happy Hour every night with different specials, allowing you to enjoy a cheaper drink if you wish. A bar tab is run on the boat for the week allowing you to pay in cash at the end. It is visible all week and you can keep track as you go. As a rough guide for your bar tab on board, €100-150 Euro for the week would get you a beer/wine at lunch and dinner, some drinks in the afternoon on the sun deck and then pre-drinks before heading out, for the 7 days while on the boat. If you choose to do any extra excursions we have on offer, you will need to budget for these. To do everything, it generally is around €150-250 per person. CROATIA: Our A+ Premium Category boats in Croatia are newly built, with spacious air-conditioned cabins and private en-suites, so there’s no sharing between 8 cabins like the lesser class boats of the competition. Enjoy the large sun deck and dining area. There’s plenty of room to take in the sun, relax on deck or chill by the bar. Check out some pics of our A+ Premium boats HERE TURKEY: Our traditional Turkish gulets are are fully equipped with Air Condition (please read about Turkish Laws about overnight usage). The large spacious cabins are at least twice as large as our competitors gulets. The rooms are 2 to a room unlike others that place 3 in a room. Our gulets are larger than the standard boat, with an average length of 31 meters. What are the rooms like? Have a sneak peak into the rooms with our 360 degree view. For more info on our Cabins, click on the following links; CROATIA TURKEY MALDIVES AFRICA Main Deck or Lower Deck? (Croatia Tours) If you're deciding whether you should choose going with a Main Deck or Lower deck cabin, here's some info to help you out: • Same Same - To start with, all rooms are twin share, have air-condition and private en-suites. • Lighting - This is the main difference between the rooms. The Main deck rooms have a normal size window whereas the Lower deck rooms have a port hole for a window, thus letting in less natural light. • Space - The Main deck rooms are slightly larger. • Twin/Double - The twin beds in the Main Deck rooms can be pushed together to make a double. This is not an option below deck as they are fixed. • Stairs - The obvious difference is that if you are Lower deck, you will need to take on the stairs each time you want to come and go from your room. A positive spin on this is you get that leg workout you've been skipping out on :) • Wifi - The boat's wifi works better in the Main deck rooms due to less interference. • Location - By being in the Main deck rooms, you have the luxury of stepping out of your door straight into daylight then into the water for that morning dip in the Adriatic. Winning! Lower deck cabin doors are on the inside and open into the hallway. Is there free WiFi on the boat? There sure is! All of our boats have free WiFi for you to log into while on board. We more than anyone know how important it is to show off on social media how awesome a week on a boat is with us! Is there a licensed bar on the boat? Yes, all of our boats have a licensed bar on board. A visable bar tab is run thoughout the week for convenience, with payment of the tab due at the end of tour. Payment of the bar tab is to be made direct to the boat's bar staff and to be paid in cash. See the FAQ section on 'budgeting' to see how much is recommended to allocate to the bar tab. Being a licensed bar means that BYO alcohol is not allowed to be brought on board with you. What power sockets are available on the boat? As we are in Europe, our boats use European sockets (2 hole prongs), so you will need to bring an international conversion adapter to use your electronics. What should I pack? You can pack light for this week long tour on the seas. The weather during the summer is on average 24-30 C (77-85 F), so you can rely on not having to wear jeans or a sweater to keep you warm. Where do we dock? CROATIA: We dock in the main ports, close to all the action. A short walk in with your Koda Sail Rep to get an orientation tour of the city when we dock will get you familiar with all that you need to know for your time on the land. We are quite often docked up next to some super yachts so it’s a good chance to do some celeb spotting when in port. TURKEY: After a day of exploring the sights along the coast, most nights we anchor up in secluded bays for sunset swims and dinner under the stars. Will I get seasick? First thing to note is that in general, coastline in the Mediterranean (Including the Adriatic Sea and Turkish coast) is relatively calm. Most of the time it's like sailing on a large lake, because most of our routes will have you sailing between the islands and the mainland, shielding you from the open sea. And for this reason, very rarely does anyone get seasick on our tours. If you do usually get seasick, we recommend you get yourself some seasick or ginger tablets before you get on board. We also recommend purchasing a set of those seasick pressure point wrist-bands if you’re really concerned. It might even be worth consulting your GP as they know your medical history and will be able to advise accordingly. What if I can’t swim very well? Life jackets and floatie devices are available on all our boats and there will be plenty of other activities to keep you busy. Or, if you prefer, you can stick to lounging around, soaking up the rays on deck! What if we get bad weather? As we sail in the peak of the Summer, it's very rare that we have bad weather. However, if the seas are too rough on any given day, our Captain carefully plans out an alternate route to avoid them. We may change up the itinerary slightly to ensure the most pleasurable experience on board by avoiding any bad weather. What currency do they use in Croatia? Most guests choose to bring some nicer light clothes for our dinners and boat parties. Don't forget to pack: Hat, Sunglasses and Sunblock! Can you carry alcohol into Maldives? You are not allowed to bring liquor to the Maldives. If you have bought liquor, beer and related items containing alcohol from a duty free shop while on route to the Maldives, these products must be bonded in the airport's customs department upon arrival. These goods will be returned before departure. Can you drink alcohol in the Maldives The majority of the Maldives is a 'dry' country and alcohol is not sold. However we have opportunities throughout the week during some of our excursions in which you can enjoy a drink or two...or three :) What is the Accommodation like? Here in Africa we have a mixture of accommodation throughout the tour, staying in lodges, sleeping out under the stars in the Salt Pans, and in our 3x3 tents during our 4 night mobile Safari in the Okavango Delta. See our accommodation page HERE

SPLIT CROATIA With a population of close to 200,000 Split comes in as the second biggest city in Croatia next to the capital of Zagreb. being on the water, it is by far the most dominant city of the Dalmatian coast with major port for ferries to Italy and the starting point for most people on the sailing tours. Often called the soul of Dalmatian coast, it's where the locals live, work and party, wedged between the Biokovo mountains and the palm lined Adriatic coast and home to the luxurious ancient palace of Roman Emperor Diocletian. Your tour starts and finishes here. Make sure you join your Koda Sail rep for a guided walk around the Palace before your final dinner and drinks in the old town. DUBROVNIK CROATIA The 'Pearl of the Adriatic' is for many people the highlight of Croatia. This historic town that was ravaged by war in 1991 leaves very little noticeable damage to the limestone and marble streets and squares. With the most complete set of medieval fortified walls in the world, this city is drenched in history and a bit of Hollywood these days with the filming of the HBO series 'Game fo Thrones'. The city walls stretch almost 2000m around, offering stunning views over the Adriatic and the traditional red roof tops, this is deservedly, a UNESCO World Heritage city. We dock up around lunchtime at 'Gruž' aka the New Port, and jump on a bus to the Pile gate where the adventure begins as we check out the old town. Have a wander down the broad medieval paved Stradun high street. Explore the city streets, local shops and walk the walls before finding yourself a bit of beach to swim the afternoon away. A visit to 'Buža' bar this afternoon is highly recommended. Grab a chilled beer, a suntan and maybe a swim before resetting for a big night out on the old town KORCULA CROATIA With a population of around 4000, Korčula oldtown is the highlight of the island of Korčula. Its little medieval walled town is reminiscent of a mini Dubrovnik. The island itself is famed for its expert stone masonry, jewellery making, shipbuilding and its most famous ex-resident, Venetian traveller Marco Polo who was born in Korčula (when under Venetian rule). He was one of the first Europeans to travel out to China and Mongolia back in the 13th Century way before Columbus, Tasman and Cook ventured out East. He was captured by the Genoese in Korčula during a huge naval battle back in 1298 that gets proudly re-enacted every summer in the town with big celebrations. During his imprisonment in Genoa he wrote one of the most famous travel books of all time about his journeys 'Il Milione'. Columbus kept and annotated his own copy, hundreds of years later for his own travels, pretty much making it the original Lonely Planet guide! OMIš CROATIA On the mainland, situated between Split and Makarska is the famous old pirate town of Omiš. Between the 13th and 15th Centuries the local sea Captains weren't too happy about paying out taxes to the rich Venetians so they took it upon themselves to 'supervise' navigation of all the Venetian trading vessels. When Omiš was under the rule of the powerful pirate Dukes of Kacic it enjoyed considerable prosperity and was well known to be a dangerous nest of pirates. Omiš was a thorn in the side of Venice's medieval naval supremacy, and between the rocky rapids of the river Cetina, the Mirabel Pirate fortress in the old town, and the watchful eye of the Stari Grad Fortress up in the mountains, the pirates had this place pretty well protected! HVAR CROATIA At about 80km long the island of Hvar is the longest in the Dalmatian coast and second in total size only to its neighbour Brač. It's also the sunniest place in Croatia with an average of 2724 hours of sun per year! Lush vineyards amongst the rugged mountains, rolling fields of lavender, tiny inlets and secluded coves, not to mention the pumping nightlife of the medieval streets of Hvar town, make it a must see. On arrival into the port, our boats get a great view of the old town and Spanola fortress up on the hill. MLJET CROATIA One of the most famous and beautiful national parks in Croatia is found in Mljet. The salt-water lakes of Mljet on the northwest part of the island are amazing. Check out Veliko Jezero (Big Lake) and Malo Jezero (Small Lake) which are only a short walk from the town in the middle of the island. Sheltered and surrounded by pine forests, the nature here is stunning! Formed 10,000 years ago by rising sea levels they were originally freshwater lakes until the Benedictine Monks came here back in the 12th Century and dug out a channel to the sea. You can still find their peaceful medieval monastery on the island of St. Mary in the big lake (an island in a lake on an island!). ADD ONS There's more to see in Croatia, so why not add on some more adventure before or after your tour with a visit to these destinations Plitvice Krka PLITVICE LAKES CROATIA Tucked away in the mountainous region of Lika, only a few hours north from the port of Split, half-way between the coast and the capital Zagreb, is the amazing Plitvice Lakes National Park. One of the most visited sites in Croatia, Plitvice Lakes became a protected national park back in 1949, and since 1979 the lakes have also been listed as UNESCO World Heritage. This amazing natural phenomenon consists of 16 interconnected lakes and over 90 waterfalls of different sizes. Visit the Lakes before or after your Koda Sail tour. Contact us if you'd like to do this day trip before your tour KRKA NP CROATIA Stretching from the western foot of the Dinaric Range into the sea near Šibenik, the 73km Krka River and its wonderful waterfalls define the landscape of Krka National Park. The waterfalls are the big daddy attraction with the river water creating a canyon up to 200m deep through limestone hills. Moss and algae retain calcium carbonate and encrust it in their roots creating a material called tufa. It's formed by billions of plants growing on top of one another which create barriers in the river that produce the spectacular waterfalls. Visit the Waterfalls before or after your Koda Sail tour.
