Book with Confidence with our Flexible Changes Policy KODA SAIL Travel Alerts & Updates: See below for our FAQS regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus) KODA SAIL UPDATE: Posted 19th April 2022 Great news for our Australian travellers as the Australian Government is easing restrictions for Australians travelling overseas. Changes to the requirements for travel into and out of Australia came into effect on 18 April 2022. So what does that mean for your overseas trip? Pre-departure testing is no longer required When travelling to Australia, you no longer need to provide a negative COVID-19 test result to board your plane. It’s important to remember that transport providers, transit locations and the state or territory you arrive in may still have testing requirements. Always check the requirements before you travel. You still need to complete the Digital Passenger Declaration when travelling to Australia. And you must still wear a mask at all times if you’re travelling to Australia by air. Exemptions are no longer required to leave Australia Unvaccinated Australian citizens and permanent residents can now leave Australia without an individual travel exemption. But you may still be asked about your vaccination status. You’re required to show proof of your vaccination status if you’re asked by an Australian official or your transport provider. The Australian Government recommends passengers leaving Australia be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and travel with proof of vaccination status documentation. If you’re unvaccinated, you’re strongly discouraged from international travel due to the health risks. Airlines, cruise lines and other destinations can still have their own vaccination policies. You may face difficulty finding transport options if you’re unvaccinated. Reference: https://www.smartraveller.gov.au/news-and-updates/easing-restrictions-travelling-overseas KODA SAIL UPDATE: Posted 10th September 2021 Travel Vaccine Policy for all 2022 tour departures. View our policy here KODA SAIL UPDATE: Posted 28th May 2021 We were hoping by now that we would have a very clear picture on what travel and tourism will look like for the Summer ahead, but as I'm sure you are aware there has been no firm decision by governments on which countries can travel to and from Europe, and no guarantee that snap border closures could happen. Parts of Europe, including 2 of our major destinations in Croatia & Turkey are still enforcing lockdown restrictions. There are nightly curfews in place and restrictions on public gatherings. Restaurants, bars and activities we have on our itinerary are either closed for the Summer, or have very limited capacity due to social distancing rules. With all this in mind and taking into account how these uncertainties and restrictions will effect our day to day itinerary, not allowing us to deliver our amazing product to the best standard, we regretfully have to inform you that our Croatian trips due to depart this Summer (Season 2021) have been suspended. If your trip has been suspended you would now have received an email from our team with this update. No further action is required by you until it is time to rebook a future tour with your Travel Credit Once again, the Koda Sail family would like to thank you for your ongoing support to not only us, but the tourism industry as a whole. We WILL be able to travel again, and when we do it will be more amazing than ever before. From our family to yours, we wish you all the very best and look forward to hosting you on one of our tours very soon. KODA SAIL UPDATE: Posted 15th March 2021 Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and associated travel restrictions, all Koda Sail trips due to depart on or before August 14th 2021 have now been suspended. If you have a trip booked during this suspension period, you’ll have a travel credit automatically available to you, for use on travel before 31 December, 2023. KODA SAIL UPDATE: Posted 4th July 2020 Turkey has opened up their borders with no 14 day quarantine restrictions. This is great news, particularly those that are travelling from the UK as there are also no quarantine restrictions on your return. We have re-opened bookings for our Turkey tours for private departures of 8 or more. Contact us for more details. KODA SAIL UPDATE: Tour Departure Reviewing Process - Posted 31st March 2020 To ensure we are not postponing our tours prematurely, and to keep inline with Airlines and other Tour Operators in the industry, we will start the review process to suspend or proceed with each of our 2020 tours, 100 days prior to their scheduled departure date. A final decision will be made 75 days from departure. If your tour departure is affected you will be contacted directly via email with flexible options for your booking (please check your spam folder in case it has slipped in there) . Click HERE to check your departure dates review period. If your departure date is not yet due for review, you can still take advantage of the Flexible Changes policy and change your departure to a later date in the season, or a different destination, with no additional fees. If you choose to cancel before your departure has been reviewed, our normal cancelation policy still applies. -- KODA SAIL UPDATE: Posted 29th March 2020 Thanks to all for your continued patience and support during this time as we work through all emails received. We are replying to all emails within a 24hr window, so if you do not see a reply, please check your spam folder as it no doubt has slipped in there. As a result of the rapidly evolving COVID-19 pandemic and government travel advice, today we reached the unfortunate decision to suspend all trips due to depart on or before July 7th, 2020. This decision hasn’t been taken lightly, but our first priority is and always will be the wellbeing of our travellers. For the affected travellers on these trips departing before July 7th, we’ll be reaching out to personally via email in the coming days with more information about your booking and the next steps. Please check your junk folder to ensure you don't miss this update. At present, all of our tours scheduled from July 7th 2020 onwards are due to depart as planned pending any updated Government travel restrictions. If there are any disruptions to those tours, we will be in touch with another update ASAP. Please continue to check back here. We'd also like to take this opportunity to thank you for your compassion when contacting us over the past month, as this unprecedented event has come with many challenges also in our personal day to day lives. Thanks Chris & the Koda Sail team --- KODA SAIL UPDATE: Posted 17th March 2020 Thanks to everyone for their patience during this time. As you could imagine we are very busy attending as many of your questions during this period of uncertainty. Please have confidence in the fact that we are fully aware and across the situations around the world with different governments and their travel bans that are CURRENTLY in place. We stress the fact that they are CURRENT travel bans and not forever. We are monitoring the situation daily and will continue to update our customers here in our Travel Alerts. If your tour is directly affected, you will be contacted directly, so we urge you to check back here regularly to read our current updates. We are staying positive that our European Summer will go ahead, so all bookings are still active and none have been cancelled. Your rights to cancel are still in place so you don't need to be concerned right this minute that you have to make a rash decision. We aim to have a clearer picture of the whole situation by the end of April and will be in a better position to understand what the Summer will look like. Until then, we wish you all good health and encourage everyone to listen to the instructions from your government to isolate and get this virus under control sooner so that we can all get on with enjoying our love of travel. Regards Chris & the Koda Sail team --- Posted 14th March 2020 ASIA UPDATE (MALDIVES) Today we received information from the Maldivian Government that they declared a 'State of Public Health Emergency' for the first time in its history in response to an increase in COVID-19 cases, forcing all tourism to cancel their operations. The announcement was made by Health Minister Abdulla Ameen who holds discretionary powers to declare such emergencies under Maldives' Public Health Act. The State of Public Health Emergency is to last 30 days starting immediately from his announcement, which directly affects our upcoming tours departing on March 21st and March 28th. The government have banned movement between islands (no resort trips from the local islands) in an effort to try and control the spread of the virus. As our Maldives tour is an Island Hopping itinerary, we would not be able to move freely between the islands or complete most of the excursions we have on the schedule, preventing us from delivering our amazing product to it's full potential. All customers affected with this cancelation have been contacted via email and provided with further information regarding their booking. We continue to monitor the situation for our tours in both Croatia & Turkey and will provide updates should those tours be affected. --- KODA SAIL UPDATE: Posted 3rd March 2020 All of our tours will operate as per normal unless government authorities insist we halt our operations, in which then of course we will provide our customers with alternate options for their bookings. If your country of citizenship's government advises you not to travel, you will need to refer to your travel insurance policy for cancelations. We encourage all of our passengers to purchase travel insurance at the time of their booking to cover any loses they may incur because of cancelations from your end leading up to your travel date. We have confidence that all of our tours will operate this Summer as all of the places we visit are of low tourist density. With a majority of the older generation deciding not to travel this year because they are of higher risk of infection, it will be a pleasant time to enjoy less crowds. As our tours are targeted towards the Young Professional demographic, we are in a good position in which our guests generally are of good health and at a very low risk of infection. Koda Sail continues to monitor very closely the travel recommendations issued by the various worldwide government travel advisory services on this matter and will continue to update/contact you if any of the advisories recommendations change. ASIA UPDATE (MALDIVES) With China being the most affected in this region, it's most likely by now that your flight has been redirected if you were connecting through there. We advise all of our passengers travelling to our upcoming tours in the Maldives to practice safe hygiene on their flights over by wearing protective masks, using hand sanitiser and avoiding close contact with others where possible. EUROPE UPDATE (CROATIA & TURKEY) At this stage, Italy has been most affected by the current outbreak of novel coronavirus, with 10 small towns in Lombardy (Codogno, Castiglione d’Adda, Casalpusterlengo, Fombio, Maleo, Somaglia, Bertonico, Terranova dei Passerini, Castelgerundo and San Fiorano) and one in Veneto (Vo’ Euganeo), being isolated by the Italian authorities due to an ongoing outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19). Based on the government advice being issued, and the fact the above regions are not visited by our Koda Sail tours, we will continue to operate all tours currently in operation throughout the month of March/April as per normal. BOOK WITH CONFIDENCE Book with confidence with our Flexible changes policy allowing you to change your trip date with no fees. Read HERE for more info. OUR COMMITMENT The wellbeing and enjoyment of our guests is our main priority. Koda Sail remains active with its high hygiene standards, with additional preventative on trip protocols implemented. In accordance with government issued warnings, anyone who has been to specific affected countries/regions in the 14 days prior to your tour start date, must self isolate. Therefore, any person who has been to a country/region listed as "high risk" in the 14 days prior to the start of their tour departure will not be permitted to join the tour. We will continue to follow advice from government advisories and remain in touch with all our on the ground suppliers. Please consider your government's advice and make a decision based on your own circumstances. Ultimately, the decision is yours if you would like to travel this year, but we are looking forward a great Summer ahead. CORONA FAQS What’s a normal day like on the tour? If you think you’re requirement is unique and want to check with our team beforehand, you can drop us an email at info@kodasail.com How much should I budget for the tour? Depending on your taste, a sailing tour in Europe can be cheap once you are there and not too much money needs to be spent during the week if you didn’t want to. The restaurants we recommend are in the price range of €10-30 per meal. If you decide to join the group on the nights out, our Koda Sail reps organize free entries to clubs and nightly drink specials, helping you to save money to be spent elsewhere. There is also a bar on board the boat that has a Happy Hour every night with different specials, allowing you to enjoy a cheaper drink if you wish. A bar tab is run on the boat for the week allowing you to pay in cash at the end. It is visible all week and you can keep track as you go. As a rough guide for your bar tab on board, €100-150 Euro for the week would get you a beer/wine at lunch and dinner, some drinks in the afternoon on the sun deck and then pre-drinks before heading out, for the 7 days while on the boat. If you choose to do any extra excursions we have on offer, you will need to budget for these. To do everything, it generally is around €150-250 per person. These prices are just a guide as excursions change from season to season. Port Tax: €80 per person cash must be paid to Captain on Day 1 of tour (Croatia tours only) Tipping: Tipping is not compulsory and it’s entirely up to you if you decide to give extra to your Koda Sail crew. It’s something we pride ourselves on. You will have the opportunity to show your gratitude to your crew at the end of the tour. The amount you tip is entirely a personal preference, however as a guideline we recommend; €15 per WEEK, per crew member on board (approx €100-110). €5 per DAY for your Koda Sail tour manager (€35) What should I pack? You can pack light for this week long tour on the seas. The weather during the summer is on average 24-30 C (77-85 F), so you can rely on not having to wear jeans or a sweater to keep you warm. The dress code for the nightlife here is very relaxed. Casual Summer wear is acceptable in most places as the bars and clubs can get very warm inside. Girls: We know this is an important one. We do have a basic hair dryer in each room (Croatia tours), however you may want to BYO Hair dryer and/or GHD if you live by it. Or, you can rock the mermaid beach hair look all week ☺ Check out our Packing Guide for some handy tips. Do I need travel Insurance? We strongly advise that you take out comprehensive travel insurance before final payment has been made. Ideally you should get a policy that covers you for; Emergency travel arrangements and accommodation expenses, cancellations, overseas medical and hospital expenses, personal accidents, personal baggage and public liability. If you need assistance in choosing an insurance company, feel free to contact us for our recommendations and discounted rates. NOTE: You may notice the option for "Cruise" cover when selecting your insurance policy. This is referring to those large cruise ships that go way out to sea and sail overnight. We are not in that category and are never more than 400m from the shore in case of any emergency. Can I connect with fellow travelers before the trip? Yes :) On your final documents email, you will be invited to join the Facebook Group for your trip. Here you can introduce yourself, find out who is getting in early and plan a mini catchup before your Koda Sail adventure starts. We'll connect you roughly 6 weeks before your departure date. CROATIA: Our A+ Premium Category boats in Croatia are newly built, with spacious air-conditioned cabins and private en-suites, so there’s no sharing between 8 cabins like the lesser class boats of the competition. Enjoy the large sun deck and dining area. There’s plenty of room to take in the sun, relax on deck or chill by the bar. Check out some pics of our A+ Premium boats HERE TURKEY: Our traditional Turkish gulets are are fully equipped with Air Condition (please read about Turkish Laws about overnight usage). The large spacious cabins are at least twice as large as our competitors gulets. The rooms are 2 to a room unlike others that place 3 in a room. Our gulets are larger than the standard boat, with an average length of 31 meters. What are the rooms like? Have a sneak peak into the rooms with our 360 degree view. For more info on our Cabins, click on the following links; CROATIA TURKEY MALDIVES AFRICA Main Deck or Lower Deck? (Croatia Tours) If you're deciding whether you should choose going with a Main Deck or Lower deck cabin, here's some info to help you out: • Same Same - To start with, all rooms are twin share, have air-condition and private en-suites. • Lighting - This is the main difference between the rooms. The Main deck rooms have a normal size window whereas the Lower deck rooms have a port hole for a window, thus letting in less natural light. • Space - The Main deck rooms are slightly larger. • Twin/Double - The twin beds in the Main Deck rooms can be pushed together to make a double. This is not an option below deck as they are fixed. • Stairs - The obvious difference is that if you are Lower deck, you will need to take on the stairs each time you want to come and go from your room. A positive spin on this is you get that leg workout you've been skipping out on :) • Wifi - The boat's wifi works better in the Main deck rooms due to less interference. • Location - By being in the Main deck rooms, you have the luxury of stepping out of your door straight into daylight then into the water for that morning dip in the Adriatic. Winning! Lower deck cabin doors are on the inside and open into the hallway. Is there free WiFi on the boat? There sure is! All of our boats have free WiFi for you to log into while on board. We more than anyone know how important it is to show off on social media how awesome a week on a boat is with us! Is there a licensed bar on the boat? Yes, all of our boats have a licensed bar on board. A visable bar tab is run thoughout the week for convenience, with payment of the tab due at the end of tour. Payment of the bar tab is to be made direct to the boat's bar staff and to be paid in cash. See the FAQ section on 'budgeting' to see how much is recommended to allocate to the bar tab. Being a licensed bar means that BYO alcohol is not allowed to be brought on board with you. What power sockets are available on the boat? As we are in Europe, our boats use European sockets (2 hole prongs), so you will need to bring an international conversion adapter to use your electronics. What should I pack? You can pack light for this week long tour on the seas. The weather during the summer is on average 24-30 C (77-85 F), so you can rely on not having to wear jeans or a sweater to keep you warm. The dress code for the nightlife here is very relaxed. Casual Summer wear is acceptable in most places as the bars and clubs can get very warm inside. Girls: We know this is an important one. CROATIA: On average there are generally between 25-35 passengers per tour group. TURKEY: Our gullets in Turkey are a bit smaller, so our group size there is generally between 12-16 passengers per tour. Is there a hair dryer on board? Yes! Our boats in Croatia come with a basic hair dryer in each bathroom. How many hours a day will we be cruising? Not including our daily swim stops, we cruise the seas for approx 3-4hrs each day. Where do we dock? CROATIA: We dock in the main ports, close to all the action. A short walk in with your Koda Sail Rep to get an orientation tour of the city when we dock will get you familiar with all that you need to know for your time on the land. We are quite often docked up next to some super yachts so it’s a good chance to do some celeb spotting when in port. TURKEY: After a day of exploring the sights along the coast, most nights we anchor up in secluded bays for sunset swims and dinner under the stars. Will I get seasick? First thing to note is that in general, coastline in the Mediterranean (Including the Adriatic Sea and Turkish coast) is relatively calm. Most of the time it's like sailing on a large lake, because most of our routes will have you sailing between the islands and the mainland, shielding you from the open sea. And for this reason, very rarely does anyone get seasick on our tours. If you do usually get seasick, we recommend you get yourself some seasick or ginger tablets before you get on board. We also recommend purchasing a set of those seasick pressure point wrist-bands if you’re really concerned. It might even be worth consulting your GP as they know your medical history and will be able to advise accordingly. What if I can’t swim very well? Life jackets and floatie devices are available on all our boats and there will be plenty of other activities to keep you busy. Or, if you prefer, you can stick to lounging around, soaking up the rays on deck! What if we get bad weather? As we sail in the peak of the Summer, it's very rare that we have bad weather. However, if the seas are too rough on any given day, our Captain carefully plans out an alternate route to avoid them. We may change up the itinerary slightly to ensure the most pleasurable experience on board by avoiding any bad weather. What currency do they use in Croatia? On January 1st 2023, Croatia finally moved from the Croatian Kuna to the Euro. Currency exchange booths are located in the main square of all the destinations we visit. SPLIT CROATIA With a population of close to 200,000 Split comes in as the second biggest city in Croatia next to the capital of Zagreb. being on the water, it is by far the most dominant city of the Dalmatian coast with major port for ferries to Italy and the starting point for most people on the sailing tours. Often called the soul of Dalmatian coast, it's where the locals live, work and party, wedged between the Biokovo mountains and the palm lined Adriatic coast and home to the luxurious ancient palace of Roman Emperor Diocletian. Your tour starts and finishes here. Make sure you join your Koda Sail rep for a guided walk around the Palace before your final dinner and drinks in the old town. DUBROVNIK CROATIA The 'Pearl of the Adriatic' is for many people the highlight of Croatia. This historic town that was ravaged by war in 1991 leaves very little noticeable damage to the limestone and marble streets and squares. With the most complete set of medieval fortified walls in the world, this city is drenched in history and a bit of Hollywood these days with the filming of the HBO series 'Game fo Thrones'. The city walls stretch almost 2000m around, offering stunning views over the Adriatic and the traditional red roof tops, this is deservedly, a UNESCO World Heritage city. We dock up around lunchtime at 'Gruž' aka the New Port, and jump on a bus to the Pile gate where the adventure begins as we check out the old town. Have a wander down the broad medieval paved Stradun high street. Explore the city streets, local shops and walk the walls before finding yourself a bit of beach to swim the afternoon away. A visit to 'Buža' bar this afternoon is highly recommended. Grab a chilled beer, a suntan and maybe a swim before resetting for a big night out on the old town KORCULA CROATIA With a population of around 4000, Korčula oldtown is the highlight of the island of Korčula. Its little medieval walled town is reminiscent of a mini Dubrovnik. The island itself is famed for its expert stone masonry, jewellery making, shipbuilding and its most famous ex-resident, Venetian traveller Marco Polo who was born in Korčula (when under Venetian rule). He was one of the first Europeans to travel out to China and Mongolia back in the 13th Century way before Columbus, Tasman and Cook ventured out East. He was captured by the Genoese in Korčula during a huge naval battle back in 1298 that gets proudly re-enacted every summer in the town with big celebrations. During his imprisonment in Genoa he wrote one of the most famous travel books of all time about his journeys 'Il Milione'. Columbus kept and annotated his own copy, hundreds of years later for his own travels, pretty much making it the original Lonely Planet guide! OMIš CROATIA On the mainland, situated between Split and Makarska is the famous old pirate town of Omiš. Between the 13th and 15th Centuries the local sea Captains weren't too happy about paying out taxes to the rich Venetians so they took it upon themselves to 'supervise' navigation of all the Venetian trading vessels. When Omiš was under the rule of the powerful pirate Dukes of Kacic it enjoyed considerable prosperity and was well known to be a dangerous nest of pirates. Omiš was a thorn in the side of Venice's medieval naval supremacy, and between the rocky rapids of the river Cetina, the Mirabel Pirate fortress in the old town, and the watchful eye of the Stari Grad Fortress up in the mountains, the pirates had this place pretty well protected! HVAR CROATIA At about 80km long the island of Hvar is the longest in the Dalmatian coast and second in total size only to its neighbour Brač. It's also the sunniest place in Croatia with an average of 2724 hours of sun per year! Lush vineyards amongst the rugged mountains, rolling fields of lavender, tiny inlets and secluded coves, not to mention the pumping nightlife of the medieval streets of Hvar town, make it a must see. On arrival into the port, our boats get a great view of the old town and Spanola fortress up on the hill. MLJET CROATIA One of the most famous and beautiful national parks in Croatia is found in Mljet. The salt-water lakes of Mljet on the northwest part of the island are amazing. Check out Veliko Jezero (Big Lake) and Malo Jezero (Small Lake) which are only a short walk from the town in the middle of the island. Sheltered and surrounded by pine forests, the nature here is stunning! Formed 10,000 years ago by rising sea levels they were originally freshwater lakes until the Benedictine Monks came here back in the 12th Century and dug out a channel to the sea. You can still find their peaceful medieval monastery on the island of St. Mary in the big lake (an island in a lake on an island!). ADD ONS There's more to see in Croatia, so why not add on some more adventure before or after your tour with a visit to these destinations Plitvice Krka PLITVICE LAKES CROATIA Tucked away in the mountainous region of Lika, only a few hours north from the port of Split, half-way between the coast and the capital Zagreb, is the amazing Plitvice Lakes National Park. One of the most visited sites in Croatia, Plitvice Lakes became a protected national park back in 1949, and since 1979 the lakes have also been listed as UNESCO World Heritage. This amazing natural phenomenon consists of 16 interconnected lakes and over 90 waterfalls of different sizes. Visit the Lakes before or after your Koda Sail tour. Contact us if you'd like to do this day trip before your tour KRKA NP CROATIA Stretching from the western foot of the Dinaric Range into the sea near Šibenik, the 73km Krka River and its wonderful waterfalls define the landscape of Krka National Park. The waterfalls are the big daddy attraction with the river water creating a canyon up to 200m deep through limestone hills. Moss and algae retain calcium carbonate and encrust it in their roots creating a material called tufa. It's formed by billions of plants growing on top of one another which create barriers in the river that produce the spectacular waterfalls. Visit the Waterfalls before or after your Koda Sail tour. • Currency in the Maldives | Koda Sail

WHAT CURRENCY IS USED IN THE MALDIVES? The currency used in the Maldives is the Maldivian Rufiyaa (MVR) or Dhivehi Rufiyaa in the local language, and the sub-unit is called the Laari. Here's a fun fact, Cowrie shells were used as currency here in ancient times dating back to 1200 AD. These type of shells are still quite commonly found here on the islands, but sadly you can't buy anything with them these days :( Currency as we now it today, starting with coins can be dated back here as a form of exchange in the 17th century during the reign of Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar. The coins used back then were made of silver, copper, lead, and gold. The first Maldivian currency minted and produced from abroad arrived in the country from the UK in 1913, just over 100 years ago. Bank notes finally made an appearance in 1947 and today we are still using a version of that same currency. The notes in circulation today are beautifully illustrated and each tell a story about the Country. If you think the notes are works of art, you're not wrong as these notes took second place in the International Bank Note Society (IBNS)’s Banknote of the Year 2016. Our favourite has to be the 1000 note with the majestic Whale Shark printed on the front. Can you use other currencies in the Maldives other than the Rufiyaa? Yes, the US Dollar is accepted as legal tender throughout the Maldives, and in most places is the preferred currency over the local Rufiyaa. Can I buy Maldivian Rufiyaa before I get to the Maldives? Not likely as it is considered a non-convertible currency which means that is not freely traded on the global foreign exchange market. As for exchanging your home currency when you get here, only major foreign currency will be exchanged. As the currency is non-convertible, you will be asked to hold on to your exchange receipt if you wish to change it back to your foreign currency upon departure at the exchange counter within the airport. These days credit cards showing the Visa or MasterCard symbol are recognised and accepted in most tourist areas, however if travelling off the beaten track, it wouldn't hurt to go old school and have some cash on hand. Check xe.com to see how the MVR fares against your home currency.

  • Packing Guide | Koda Sail

Once your trip is booked and the countdown is on, the number 1 question you're going to ask is... What do I pack? We've put together a handy little list to help you stuff that suitcase full of useful goodies (and leave home the not so useful ones!) PACKING GUIDE GET PACKING! Packing for your trip can be fiddly, so we've made it easy with some handy tips. How much can I pack? On our trips you have the space to place your suitcase under your bed. There is a even closet in each room so you are able to hang out some of those clothes that have been scrunched up from your travels so far. (Note: Irons are not permitted to be used on board our vessels as they are a fire hazard, so hanging them up is the second best thing). Now even though there is a closet, this doesn't mean that you should go nuts and pack your whole wardrobe! We recommend you keep it simple and bring one bag or suitcase with a max weight of 25kg (55lbs) & one piece of hand luggage. Remember that you will have to carry your bag onto the boat, so you don't want it to be too heavy. What should I pack? As well as all the standard stuff you'd be packing, here are a couple of ideas about what else you might need; • Swimwear - This will be your main outfit! • Beach Bag - Especially handy when on the land and just want to take some essential items. • Sunglasses - Look cool and reflect the sun :) • Comfy walking shoes/sandals - No need for high heels. These European cobble stone streets weren't built for them! • Sneakers/closed toe shoes - Requirement for Zip Line excursion (Croatia) and hikes (Turkey) • Water Shoes - You know those very non-fashionable plastic/rubber shoes those Europeans wear on the beach (see them here ). Well they are very practical, especially for our Rafting excursion. No need to buy them beforehand, you can pick them up easily enough at any seaside town. • Evening outfits & shoes - Even though you’ll be living in your swim wear, it’s a great idea to pack something a bit nicer for a night out. • Light jacket/sweater - Even though the weather in Croatia/Turkey is predominantly hot, you should bring a jacket/sweater just in case it gets cool of an evening. • Active wear - Yeah, it's a thing. Google it. Totally optional, but our Yogis demanded we tell you this haha! • Medical stuff - Get motion sickness? Be prepared with your own stash of tablets. • Sunscreen - Bring your own supply from home as you may not be able to get the same quality in Europe/Maldives. • Reusable drink bottle - Handy to have on you to refill water from those fresh fountains. Also great for the environment :) • Travel adaptors - All appliances require a double round pin type plug for 220 volts, AC, 50 hertz. • Camera, GoPro and spare memory cards • USB stick - This will come in handy when sharing those large pics/video files that other guests might have, especially if someone has a drone!! That footage is always unreal to share on your socials :) • Portable speakers - We have music playing on board our boats, but you may want to have your own to take down the beach with you. • A travel diary & a good book! - We're always up for swapping our reads at the end of the week to give you something fresh for your next leg of the trip. LOCATION SPECIFIC ITEMS: CROATIA • Nautical Night (Croatia) - For those coming on our Croatia tours, we have a Nautical night theme where we encourage everyone to dress in Blue/White which most people have in their suitcase anyways. You don't need to go crazy and bring anything special from home for this night, as there's plenty of opportunities throughout the week to get your hands on a sailors hat! Click HERE for an idea of what our groups in the past wear. • Inflatable Water toys - You'll be able to pick these up at each port we stop at, but feel free to pack that big inflatable swan for some awesome pics! MALDIVES • Rash Vest (Maldives) - You'll be in the water for a lot of the week. A rash vest to protect you from the hotter than normal sun is highly recommended. • Sunscreen - The sun hits a little harder in the Maldives. We recommend SPF 50+ and to bring your own supply from home as you may not be able to get the same quality in here in the Maldives. • Aloe Vera (Maldives) - And if you don't apply enough Sunscreen, you're going to need some Aloe! You can buy Aloe Vera there, but best to pack some with you. • Mosquito Repellent (Maldives) - Tropical Island = mosquitos. You can buy at the stores there, but your repellent from home will be more effective. • T-Shirt / Shoulder coverings (Maldives) - Being a Muslim country, there are times when you will need to cover cover up your shoulders. A T-shirt or a sholl is adequate enough. Do I need to pack a towel? No need to pack a bathroom towel, we’ll provide them for you. What about a Beach towel? Beach towels are provided for our tours in Croatia and Maldives. For our tours in Turkey and Greece they are not provided. If you want to purchase your own beach towel for your week on the seas with us, there are many available in each town so there's no need to pack one from home. ...and don't forget • Your passport - Ensure it has at least 6 months validity on it before you leave home. A lot of countries, including Croatia and Turkey may refuse entry with anything less than 6 months remaining on your passport. • Your trip documents • Travel insurance details • Visas (if applicable) • Credit cards & cash (Currency info: Croatia , Turkey , Maldives ) • A spare print-out of all your important details • Unlock your phone before you leave . This will allow you to buy a sim card when you are overseas. There are great pre-paid data plans when you get to Europe, it might be a lot cheaper to do it this way than pay for international roaming. Only bring what you need It’s a good idea to double think about what to bring with you for your cruise. You’ll be spending most of your days in the water and out and about on the beach, so only pack what you can’t live without. Remember, you can buy stuff here! When travelling, sometimes you fall into the trap of thinking you have to bring everything from home! For example, there's no need to pack Shampoo when you can buy it from the Supermarket when you get here. Packing that stuff from home is an accident in your suitcase just waiting to happen! Pack like a pro! Check out what Global Nike Trainer and Lifestyle blogger Lauren Schramm packed for her Koda Sail trip. Also her guide to what to pack for your overall Euro trip. Packing Guide for Croatia Packing guide for Europe We've been lucky enough to have Lauren join us a few times to run our special Yoga tours. Check out the fun she had on one of her week's last Summer HERE and give her a follow on Insta! Travel Tips for Flying Here are some of our top flying hints before you leave home. • Carry your travel documentation, camera & books/magazines in your hand luggage. • Double, make that TRIPLE check that you’ve got your passport! • Don’t forget that most airlines have 50ml liquid restrictions that must fit in one plastic bag – so make sure yours fit. • Buying Duty Free is great, but double check the limits. • Travelling can dry you out, especially on long haul flights. Take an empty drink bottle on board & asking for it to be filled with water, to avoid jumping up & down for re-fills • Stay awake as long as you can when you arrive to help adjust to local time, fast. Money Croatia - As of Jan 1st 2023, Croatia has switched from Kuna to Euro currency. Check out our info on the Euro here . Turkey - The main currencies you’ll find in Turkey is the Lira, Euro and USD . Check out our info on the Turkish Lira here . Maldives - The main currencies you’ll find in the Maldives is the Maldivian Rufiyaa and USD (preferred) . Check out our info on the Maldivian Rufiyaa here . Ensure this policy covers you for any excursions you may pay in cash, as some policies only cover you for items purchased on the card only. 11. Illness or Absenteeism In the event of your withdrawal from a tour after the commencement as a result of illness, we can assist you with finding a medical practitioner to obtain a medical certificate in support of any travel insurance claim you may want to process. No refunds will be made from Koda Sail for any absence from the trip. Any additional expenses are the guest’s responsibility. 12. Weather Conditions The Captain and the Koda Sail team reserves the right to change the route in case of unsafe weather conditions. Under no circumstances can we be held responsible for snow or weather conditions, nor can any tour be cancelled or amended by you at any time on the basis of snow or weather conditions. 14. Special Note for All Travel by Sea Guests have to follow ship rules (to be found in written form on the ship) especially with regards to not bringing drinks on board and in case of inappropriate behaviour Koda Sail/captain reserves the right in asking clients to disembark. Koda Sail will not be responsible for any accidents that may occur onboard and insist that clients are informed of this and the need for extra observation and caution whilst being onboard or walking between ship(s) and mainland. Due to specific mooring conditions and requirements in some ports, Koda Sail ships are moored side by side, making it necessary for the clients to cross from one ship to another with gaps in between ships in order to get to the shore. In such cases clients need to take special care when crossing and do this at their own risk. Crew assistance will be given to those needing and requesting it. 15. Special Note for Hotels Guests have to follow all Hotel rules and in case of inappropriate behaviour Koda Sail and/or Hotel Management reserves the right in asking clients to leave the premises. Koda Sail will not be responsible for any accidents that may occur in the Hotel and insist that clients are informed of this. 16. Ship Rules Passengers on board are obliged to abide to the ship rules, as the Captain is responsible for the safety of all passengers and the crew. The Captain has the right to change the itinerary in case of unsafe weather or similar inappropriate conditions in ports to ensure safety on board. Passports are to be handed to the Captain for registration on the first day of the cruise and may be kept in possession by the Captain for use with documentation required by port authorities until the end of the tour. Jumping or diving from the boat during navigation is strictly forbidden. For safety reasons climbing over the railings is also forbidden and done so at your own risk. A safe entry point to the water is provided and is our only recommendation. Jumping from the boat when anchored is done so at your own risk. Koda Sail holds no responsibility for any injuries incurred due to your decision to do so. During rough weather movement should be done with care and as little as possible. The floors can often be wet and slippery. Passengers should take extra care crossing between the boats when they are docked together in port. Do not hesitate to ask a crew member for assistance when crossing. Movement between the ships is at the individual’s responsibility. Safety jackets are placed either under the seats in the dining area or underneath the beds in each cabin. These are required to remain in their place for use in an emergency only and may not be removed for general use as a flotation device. As the ships are explicitly acoustic all passengers are asked to behave accordingly. Special attention must be given to night peace onboard, which officially is at 11pm (2300hrs). In National Parks even earlier night peace is required and guests will be notified of this. Clients are responsible for looking after their personal belongings whilst travelling. The Operator cannot be held responsible for any personal belongings left behind or damaged on any trip irrespective of the circumstances. It is recommended you have a lock on your suitcase/baggage for you to store away any valuables. Smoking in the restaurant area and in the cabins is forbidden. When smoking on the deck, passengers must not throw cigarette butts in the sea. Bed linens must not be taken out of the cabins. Passengers are not permitted to bring drinks and food on the boat. This includes all drinks and food products purchased on shore in ports of call. The only exceptions are: personal care products, liquid medicine, food products specifically for infants and food products for special diets. Typical regional products purchased during visits to the ports will be stored on board to be returned to passengers at the end of the cruise. Please take special attention not to throw anything into toilets except of toilette paper. Guests are obliged to respect meal times on board, which are placed on the board in the salon, as well as departure times to next port. Any damage must be compensated to the captain by the passenger. Lost cabin keys will be charged €80 per lost key. It is strictly forbidden to throw rubbish into the sea. Water is a problem on every boat, therefore please be very rational with it. The same applies to the electricity which runs on the generator. Guests must close the portholes in cabins under deck during navigation, to avoid their cabins getting wet by the sea water entering cabin through the porthole. The Captain and the crew will be available for any questions or queries and will do their best to make your stay on board a most pleasurable one. If the Captain and his crew are not providing satisfactory service, please contact our office for further help, as our aim is to make you satisfied during your stay onboard. Service charge is not included in the price and therefore please tip your Koda Sail Representative and crew at your own discretion. GENERAL 17.
